Govt. Balasaheb Deshpandey College-Kunkuri set up in the Tribal Region of District Jashpur marks as a Prominent College of the residents of Kunkuri and nearby regions. The college was established in July, 1998 and since then it has been imparting education in the field of Arts. The Govt. of Chhattisgarh sanctioned additional streams for the college and in response to that the College has started the UG Programs for Science and Commerce too from the Academic Year 2013-14. The college building got dedicated towards society on 14th June, 2006. Being the only Govt. College at Kunkuri, the College serves a wide region of approx. 25 kms comprising of at least 20 villages. The college has been fortunate to receive full support from the Govt. of Chhattisgarh in terms of financial aid. The State Government has focused for the Skill Development of the Youth in recent parlance. The enactment of CG Right of Youth to Skill Development Act, 2013 has been a landmark move towards restructuring the Educational System. The Govt. has targeted around 1.22 Crore youth for Skill Development by the year 2022. The college though has limited resources but its vision encompasses the upliftment of the region through quality education and creating modern learning environment for the students. The college aims at imparting additional value addition programs for enhancing vocational skills of the students. College renders graduation in the streams of Arts, Science and Commerce with B.A., B.com. and B.Sc. degrees. The college is optimistic about students’ academic progress and also is pleased about the fact that the students of the region will now be able to avail education in Arts, Science and Commerce streams. College’ NSS unit is deeply involved in the overall development of students through various programs and camps round the year. There is a Career Guidance Cell in our college which updates and guides the students towards.
